In addition to our wealth of activities and adventures on our home waters from the lodge guests also have the option of upgrading their stay to include Added Excursions. Added Excursions are fully guided half or full days from lodge to remote locations only accessible by helicopter. These excursions are truly unique and will provide opportunities at experiencing something only available in remote Alaska! These excursions tend to fill fast so please let us know during the booking process if you have serious interest! There is a maximum weight limitation of 285lbs per passenger.
The Alaska summer is basically 100 days; however, due to the rapidly changing conditions there are differences in what you can experience whether visiting in June, July, August or September. Bears forage and feed at various locations throughout the summer, wildflowers bloom at different times and Salmon species run in multiple rivers throughout the summer. We are happy to explain in great detail the experience you can anticipate depending on the time you wish to visit.

Helicopter Adventures at Redoubt Mountain Lodge was born out of a deep passion for exploration. Having a lodge located in such a beautiful and unique location creates nirvana for any aviator. For numerous years I have been flying my PA-18 Supercub throughout this vast area exploring as many canyons, alpine lakes, unnamed glaciers and mountains tops as I could. The first time I flew a nearby coastal area in early June and counted over 50 bears, I knew this was something that I could not keep to myself. For the next four years I was consumed with finding a way to bring people into this magical area. I spent hundreds of hours flying, observing and learning the behavior of the bears to determine if we could effectively brings small groups into this bear habitat with out disturbing them. Almost 4 years from the day of my initial flight into the area we hosted our first group of two to experience the “Bay of Bears” thereby leading to Helicopter Adventures at Redoubt Mountain Lodge.
From here we began staging helicopters at the lodge for limited times throughout the season. It became very clear that with each day we had a helicopter on site, we were finding new and amazing adventures to show guests. This, of course, led to the idea of having our own aircraft and offering trips throughout the entire season. Having our own helicopter provides RML the ability to take advantage of the changing conditions throughout the summer and opened up a wealth of other adventures. We are now able to explore multiple rivers when Salmon are running, access low tides for clamming excursions, follow migrating bears, kayak and paddle board remote streams and much more. At this point we know how amazing our current trips are; however, we have only begun to scratch the surface on all that is available. With the spirit of exploration and the access a helicopter provides, the adventures are endless!
