Join us at Redoubt Mountain Lodge for a 4-day/4-night stay between August 1-17, 2010 and experience Lake Clark National Park “Among the Bears”. This area is regarded as one of the best bear viewing locations in Alaska. These bears can be experienced while taking part in a variety of adventures. Due to the thousands of brilliantly colored Sockeye Salmon schooled in shallow pools along the shoreline, an absolute feeding frenzy takes place among the bears. Observe these bears as they educate their young, confront other bears and pack on the pounds in preparation for winter. This is a very popular time for both amateur and professional photographers. To complement the wildlife, August provides colorful hillsides of fireweed and wildflowers in full bloom as well as wild blueberry patches ripe for picking. If fishing among the bears is what you are after you will delight in the angling opportunities. Very often guests are fishing within sight of grizzlies foraging along the shoreline. This is a phenomenal time for anglers in search of a variety of fish. Beautiful Arctic Char, Dolly Varden, massive Lake Trout and 3 species of Salmon are available. Whether novice or expert, RML guides take pleasure in assisting those guests in the fishing experience of a lifetime. At least one day should be spent hiking among the bears and enjoying the dramatic landscape of the Chigmit Mountains. Numerous hikes are available for all skill levels. “Among the Bears” can be upgraded to include a day fly-out to the Kustatan River. A float plane will transport you 25 minutes to the north, passing by scenic coastal areas, unnamed glaciers and towering Mt. Redoubt, to a remote stream filled will aggressive Coho. Enjoy a fully guided day with a prepared shore lunch and great Salmon fishing. Be back to the lodge for appetizers, dinner and a sunset cruise around the lake. Mid-August at RML features constant rod-bending action on aggressive Arctic Char, Dolly Varden, Lake Trout and arriving Coho Salmon.
